There are still several months until the 2022 iPhone 14 versions are ready for launch, but we've been hearing rumors about them since before the iPhone 13 models were introduced, owing to the significant upgrades anticipated for these handsets.

iPhone 14

In 2022, iPhone sizes will shift, and the 5.4-inch iPhone mini, which was unpopular with customers, will be phased out. Following the iPhone mini's dismal sales, Apple plans to focus on larger iPhone sizes for its flagship devices, with a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max expected.

Doubts and rumors

Since 2017, iPhones with Face ID have had a notch on the front to house all of the necessary equipment for face recognition, but with the debut of the iPhone 14, that will change. In favor of a new design, the notch is anticipated to be deleted from the 2022 iPhone 14 Pro models. For the time being, rumors suggest Apple will utilize a combination of a circular hole-punch design for the camera and a pill-shaped cutout for the critical Face ID components. Unfortunately, this feature will only be available on the Pro models, leaving the other iPhone 14 models with the standard notch.

Apple may also give the rear cam a facelift, with a stiffer casing that removes the camera bulge. If this is the case, the lenses, flash, and LiDAR scanner may be flush with the rear glass, but we've only heard one rumor suggesting this.

A titanium frame, as well as an updated speaker and microphone grilles, may be included in some future iPhones. In order to reduce the impact of faster CPUs and 5G connections, Apple may use a new vapor chamber thermal technology to keep the iPhone cooler.

The camera on new iPhones is always getting better, and the iPhone 14 is no different.

iPhone 14

The camera on new iPhones is constantly improved, and the iPhone 14 is no exception. The Ultra-Wide camera will be improved, and there's a chance that Apple will offer a "periscope" zoom lens that allows for considerably larger optical magnification, although it's unclear whether this will happen in 2022 or 2023. The Pro iPhone models may also include 48-megapixel sensors and 8K video recording capability.

Rumors say that the iPhone 14 models will retain the same A15 chip launched in the iPhone 13 series, while the iPhone 14 Pro variants will have an improved A16 chip.

No Notch and New Face ID Hardware Design (Pro Only)

The hardware for Face ID has been changed, and there is no crease (Pro Only)

In at least some of the iPhone 14 models, Apple is attempting to eliminate the notch that houses the Face ID technology. When it first appeared in 2017, the notch was a divisive design decision, and it hasn't changed much since then, with the exception of a size change with the iPhone 13.

In March 2021, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the 2022 iPhone models will be devoid of a notch, instead opting for a hole-punch design similar to that seen on several Android phones.

There have been numerous stories since Kuo's prediction that have muddled the front look of the iPhone 14 Pro variations. The camera notch on the iPhone 14 Pro models will be pill-shaped rather than hole-punched, according to leaker Dylandkt. Ross Young, a display analyst, went on to explain that he expects to see both a pill-shaped and a circular notch. The Face ID dot projector will very surely be housed in the circular cutout, while the front camera, Face ID infrared camera, and maybe other components will be housed in the pill-shaped cutout.

Body Shape

The iPhone 14 devices are believed to have the same flat-edged appearance as the iPhone 13 variants. According to the following speculations and disclosures, Apple will offer a thicker casing with no back camera hump and circular volume keys, however, Jon Prosser's information looks to be inaccurate.

Reported renderings of iPhone 14 models appeared in March, and the pictures indicate that the regular iPhone 14 devices will have no adjustments and will appear the same as the iPhone 13 models. There will be a regular notch as well as an identical camera hump on the rear with the diagonal camera configuration.

Alternatives in Size

Because Apple is terminating the "small" series owing to low sales, there will be no 5.4-inch iPhone in 2022. Apple is expected to focus on larger-sized iPhones in the future, therefore the iPhone 13 mini will be the last of the little phones.

Camera Technology

According to Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2022 Pro iPhone models would include a 48-megapixel Wide camera, which is a considerable advance over the current 12-megapixel camera, as well as 8K video recording capabilities.

So these were some expectations. Let’s see what happens.
